Bill Heinemann

Ward 1 Candidate for Borough Council

Qualifications:

My more than ten years on the Borough Planning Commission have connected me with the important issues faced by our community, and how our municipal government can help address them. I chaired the Borough’s first Environmental Advisory Commission, and have served on ad-hoc committees for CVS planning and re-examining the Historic District.  As a partner in a local high-technology business, I have extensive corporate and project management experience.  I also have served on a number of non-profit Boards of Directors.

What are the Most Important Issues facing the Borough?

We need to commit to maintaining Newtown Borough’s character and quality of life, which are being challenged by increased growth, traffic, and economic pressures.  I believe these challenges can be addressed only by working effectively with surrounding municipalities.

We also must continue to improve the transparency and openness of Borough government.  As a Council member I will work to ensure that all important proposals, discussions and decisions will be fully open to the public.

Finally, I will help the Borough enact key recommendations from the recently updated Borough Comprehensive Plan, including open space, pedestrian circulation and storm water management.  I was a member of the Planning Commission for the first Comp Plan, and that has given me a perspective on how we should follow through on the newest recommendations.
